If your not willing to put in the work then this is not the place for you but I recommend it because it is your BEST chance of getting in a good high school ( the specialized high schools). When i got my results in 8th grade knowing that i wasn't going to a specialized high school, I was a very broken person. When i got my results in 8th grade knowing that i wasn't going to a specialized high school, I was a very broken person. Ever since march 2016 my goal until was to attend a specialized high school, however, i was too distraught to study by myself as it didn't work the first time. I was also scared because i knew that the 9th grade supplementary shsat was more difficult and A LOT more competitive and that this task would not easy. 2 days after i got my results i was looking for tutoring places that would offer 9th grade prep. All of them were the same and useless. All they did was mix the 8th and 9th graders and teach them the same things. However, when i found bobby-tariq, I was happy that they had a separate intensive program for the 9th grade shsat. When I went to talk to tariq, he motivated me to take the test again and he helped put me in the right mindset for the test. (I didn't actually enroll until September). Ever since then i've seen myself improve so much. Tariq showed me unique ways to approach the questions and gave me (and the other students) sat math and reading. Tariq taught us harder material because the concepts on the SAT's and the 9th grade SHSAT are very similar, except the SAT questions are harder, and the SHSAT wouldn't be that challenging. On my first practice test I scored a 400. Then i worked hard and improved rapidly over the span of 2 months. During these 2 months i probably learned more than I ever had. But then, my math started to decrease. Tariq, being the amazing teacher he is, noticed immediately and put me with a separate tutor. Then my math got a lot better. (my english also). Then, before i knew it, it was the day before the SHSAT. On that day, i scored a 521 on my practice test. A 521 is a 121 point improvement from my first practice test score and a 149 point improvement from my original 8th grade SHSAT score. (i didn't do so well the first time). I achieved all of this, in a whole 2 months (around 40 classes). I strongly suggest that you invest in this tutoring center. You will not regret it! Before I came to BTLC, I kept making silly mistakes, I barely even knew anything for 7th and 8th grade Math, ELA and I struggled in understanding each subjects concepts for 7th and 8th grade. When I came to BTLC, I started to learn the basics of Math and English and it became easier. When things started to get complicated I struggled so much, but Tariq, my mentor, motivated me to try my hardest and not to easily give up. He showed me that if you give your hardest efforts in order to overcome obstacles. I took his word with sincerity and I started to understand these new concepts and it became familiar with me. I was able to do above grade level works, which was the SH-SAT. As I first started the SH-SAT the concepts in Math was way different than the math I did in 7th grade. The Ela in SH-SAT had complicated passages with very unfamiliar vocabulary words. I felt like I was no match for this monstrous test, but I didn't give up. Tariq motivational words stuck to my mind, try the best you can, don't give up with ease, fight back ! With that in mind, I prepared through a crucial 10 months of practice with Tariq in order to overcome the SH-SAT test. From hard-work and sheer persistence, Tariq taught all what I needed to know about the SH-SAT. He had fixed the silly mistakes I used to make and I am able to understand concepts. Not only did he prepare me for the SH-SAT, he taught me concepts or lessons that will appear in the 8th grade and the 9th grade !
